John Hoddy is a retired engineer and former submariner, currently living in Southern California. A member of his college magazine features staff, he published three short speculative fiction stories before setting creative writing aside for a number of years. Since returning to the craft, his stories have been published in AlienSkin Magazine, and in two anthologies, Undead: Ten Tales of Zombies and The Devil Eats Here.

His latest work and first novel, The Bandit Little Red, young adult heroic fiction set in time and place reminiscent of early post-Roman, pre-baronial Europe, tells the story of a young girl raised in affluence, orphaned by war, and cast to find her way with nothing but her wits and her late father's knife. A sequel is nearing publication, with additional books in the series to follow.
